about

A Cranial Mass Production. cover graphics by Mallory Massara from a photo published in the 1952 Boston Post article "One Man Tornado" -- the Park League nickname for Joe's father, Joe "Shoemaker" Incagnoli, Sr., who played both offensive and defensive positions for the East Boston Tornadoes until he was in his 40's, winning the '54 Milano Trophy for Best Sandlot Athlete.

This is an anthology of tracks Joe has played on with other artists, with credits including lap steel, guitar, guitar synthesizer, bouzouki, and 'tape recorder guitar' [as well as producer and/or engineer in some cases]. It features a live track with Joe and his friend Jonathan Richman joining the Pernice Brothers {beginning with cousin Joe Pernice's intro], a song co-written with John Lennon Song Contest winner Rick Barry ["Nashville"] of Asbury Park, NJ, and "Younger Men", a JH composition from 'Country Eastern' which features Mary Lou Lord on lead vocals; three Detroit JH productions with Michigan's Goober & the Peas, and production/guitar contributions on an Eric Mother's Mother track cut in Cleveland and a Hovorka track cut in Brooklyn then mixed at Fort Apache South.

When compiled as Joe's 2008 Asbury Music Awards give-away LP, the release originally featured four other recordings Joe has played on [with Chappaquidick Skyline ["Courage Up"], Dinosaur, Jr. ["Muck"], Pernice Brothers ["Endless Supply"], and Throwing Muses ["Amazing Grace"] which being commercially available are not included on this online version.

Joe says: "The four tracks below can be bought at the artist's sites in better quality versions, as listed below for your convenience. Otherwise if you bought them I'd have to go find Joe or Jay or Kristin and give them three dollars or whatever. Other tracks have been added to flesh out the original Anthology idea, including things I've engineered and produced - thanks!"
