about

Goober and the Peas were a Michigan based alt-country group who were very popular in the early though mid 1990's. They dressed like rodeo stars with cowboy hats, Nudie suits and string ties, and toured extensively around this time on the strength of a great song: "Red Hot Women and Ice Cold Beer."

After initially meeting at Stache's, where Joe was the soundman for a G&tP show, the band decided to use Joe as producer on a charity fundraising LP. The recordings were made in Detroit, close to the Christmas release date. Joe joined the group in Detroit, producing basics and overdubs, and contributing lap steel. Harvard had to return to Columbus before the mix session got underway, however, and the band supervised that mixdown portion of the record.
