about

"Misery" is a Bodeans song, and "Southern Girls" is of course a Cheap Trick number. Joe takes lyrical liberties with both, but in particular with "Misery", in which he typically used about 1/3 of the 'real' verses and would improvise the remainder each time the song was covered. No surprise considering his one experience of the song was at a show that 500 TV opened at Wellesley College, two years before. Joe confesses he just never learned the right words to "Southern Girls" either
