about

In Bostonian English 'Corner' rhymes with 'sauna'. Also with 'want to' in it's 'wanna' form.

This is the first version of "Corner", which Joe re-recorded twice more, with Mr. Happy and with 500 TV, trying to capture the "soaring" feel he sought. The song is about the corner of Sumner and Jeffries Streets in Jeffries Point, East Boston, where Joe and his friends spent long hours every day hanging out as kids and teens, but where all ages were welcome to stop by and hang. During the years when the Baby-boomers grew up kids pretty much were able to 'go down to the corner and do just what' they wanted.

lyrics

Sittin’ at ,my desk I was drinkin Tussionex Listenin’ to T-Rex on my little Panasonic
I can’t complain, I’m feelin’ no pain and I don’t see the need for additional histrionics

I’m gonna go down to the Corner and do just what I wanna
Go down to the Corner and do just what I wanna

Pillsbury dough boys dance in my head
Some days I wish that I could just stay in bed
Sittin’ at ,my desk I was drinkin’ Tussionex I was listenin’ to T-Rex on my itty-bitty Panasonic
I can’t complain, I’m feelin’ no pain and I don’t see the need for additional histrionics

I’m gonna go down to the Corner and do just what I wanna
Go down to the Corner and do just what I wanna

SOLO

Some times it’s difficult to et what I need So please don’t be difficult I’m down on my knees ‘n I need to get what I need [repeat x3]
And I need to go down to the Corner and do just what I wanna
Go down to the Corner and do just what I wanna

Put a little heart into it, from home
